If the lack of software updates isn't a barrier, you want a headphone jack and a microSD slot, and the two-day battery life is more important than camera quality, then you'll be happy with the Nord N30 5G. But I think onePlus could stand to keep its budget handsets updated a little longer, and it needs to go back to the drawing board with its cameras.

The Nord N30 is a $300 phone that performs like a $500 phone, but it’s held back by a mediocre camera system — and last year’s Pixel 6A hovering over its shoulder.

However, having said all that, we still don't think the Nord N30 5G is a disappointment. Seeing how the US market has limited options in this price range, the Nord N30 does have a fairly decent market standing. We wouldn't recommend you actively go out to buy one, but you might not have too many alternatives and if you do end up owning it through some amazing deal or another circumstance, it is a solid budget device overall.

The onePlus Nord N30 5G is a new take on one of our favorite budget phones of last year. It loses out on the refined design and AMOLED display that won us over in 2022, but keeps the same level of performance in an affordable package.

Anyone in the market for a $300 smartphone should shortlist the onePlus Nord N30 5G. It packs a fantastic camera, solid real-world performance, and a nice, bright display.

If the Pixel 6A isn't on sale, and if a two-day battery life and a ludicrously fast recharge time are appealing, the onePlus Nord N30 5G is a respectable option among its $300 peers.

If anything, the design isn’t as stylish and colorful as before, the IPS screen is a step back (despite the smoother 120Hz refresh rate), and the continued lack of an ultrawide camera is disappointing. But if you don’t mind these limitations, the N30 5G is available for $299. That's a nice, budget-friendly price for a quality mid-range smartphone.
